7 Unfortunate Traits of Body Odor Attributed to Aging
Although the word “aging odor” is in common today, it is relatively new boosted by the study issued in 2001 by “Shiseido”  (J Invest Dermatol 116:520-524, 2001)

Shiseido focused on the impression people have without thinking deeply on odor of babies, the young, the middle and elderly people. They found the substance “nonenal” in body odor of aged over 40. Body odor of young people does not contain the substance.
The word aging odor became in common because of the research. People’s vague images linked to the research and the word became so pervasive.

Nonenal is the substance produced in the process that reactive oxygen oxidizes and decomposes the unsaturated fatty acid “9-hexadecenoic”.  9-hexadecenoic in sebum increases as growing older.
People tend to regard aging odor as a problem for men. It is true that man’s sebum secretion is larger than that of women so men are liable to have an aging odor but women can have an aging odor.

Aging odor is hated by many people like family but what are traits of people having a hard aging odor?   Let’s see them.

7 unfortunate traits of aging body odor

No.1: Indifference and Apathy

It seemsthat there are many those who have not realized their body-odor attributed to aging even though their family or people around them had realized it or those who began to realize it vaguely.  Indifference and apathy can lead to hard aging odor. You do not have to be worried too much about body odor, but it is etiquette to care about body odor in order not to make people uncomfortable.

No.2: Body or cloths left unwashed

Nonenal is produced much where sebum secretion is active like a scalp, behind the ear, around the neck, breast and the back.

Especially, behind the ear and around the neck are often left unwashed. Sebum left unwashed or sweat leads to aging odor.

Do you wash off sebum or dirt in your cloths completely?  Oxidized and decomposed sebum left unwashed can cause odor.

No.3: To have a Preference for Fatty Food

Meat and oily foods contain a large amount of fat. Intake of too much fat increases blood concentration of neutral fat, and which leads to excessive secretion of sebum.

Sweets contains much sugar also causes blood concentration of neutral fat to increase. The increased sebum oxidizes and gets decomposed and enhance aging odor.

No.4: Lack of Vegetables and Fruits

It is said that the function of anti -oxidization weakens as getting old. Don’t you function and lack of anti-oxidization ingredients such as vitamin C or E which vegetables and fruits contain much causes excessive sebum. As a result, it leads to aging odor.

No.5: To Drink too Much Alcohol

There is progesterone which promotes secretion of sebum. The liver has the function of decomposing excessively secreted progesterone but if you drink too much alcohol every day, the liver function will be weakened and it will become unable to decompose progesterone.

Thus, excessive progesterone left undecomposed increases secretion of sebum.

No.6: Smoking

Smoking leads to aging odor because of the following three causes, vasoconstriction, active oxygen production and destruction of vitamin C. When vasoconstriction occurs, enough nutrients cannot reach the scalp and reduce metabolism of scalp.

And since, smoking produce active oxygen, the scalp will become oxidize easily.

Furthermore, it is said that smoking destroys vitamin C in the body. Since Vitamin C promotes metabolism and have anti-oxidization effect, when you lack vitamin C, your scalp condition get worse and sebum become easily oxidize.

No.7: Stressful

When you feel stress, the adrenal glands secrete adrenocortical hormone. And when it secretes and gets decomposed, active oxygen is produced.

The active oxygen which oxidizes and decomposes sebum leads to aging odor.

And when the adrenocortical hormone is produced vitamin C and vitamin E are consumed. Since vitamin C and vitamin E have an effect of anti-oxidization, reduction of the vitamin promotes oxidization.

Thus, stress helps to increase active oxygen and to reduce anti-oxidization substances resulting in a vicious cycle. As a result, stress causes aging odor.

Are there anything occur to you in the articles?
It is said that aging odor begins in middle ages, but some young people have aging odor.
Especially, intemperance is risky. Change in sebum aging concern and the ways of suppressing 9-hexadecenoic have yet to be unraveled. However, you can improve
aging odor by sebum secretion reduction or preventing oxidization.

Why don’t you reconsider your lifestyle and live a good life without aging odor.
