One of them is postpartum hair loss. This is typical problem for many mothers. Hair is important for women. Here are ways to prevent hair loss.

Postpartum hair loss! 5 ways of prevention

1. Use specialized shampoo and conditioner

The biggest cause of hair loss is imbalance of hormones. In late pregnancy, one of the female hormones called “estrogen”, which grows hair, is secreted more and hair loss is prevented.

However, this hormone suddenly decreases after childbirth, so hair loss increases at once. That’s why you feel you are losing more hair.

It is different for each person, but some people lose hair as much to clog drain. If you are worried, use shampoo and conditioner with hair growing effect or mildly-irritating to keep scalp clean as well as to grow healthy hair.

Silicone-free shampoos and hair essences, which remove dirt well and mild for hair, are popular recently. If you are using strong shampoo or unsuitable conditioner for your skin, avoid using them.

2. Use hair grower for women

If you think hair grower is for middle aged men, you are wrong. Recently, there are many women who use hair growers according to their problems.

Women of modern society work as hard as men, and irregular life habit and imbalance of nutrients can cause thin hair. Therefore, there are many hair growers with good scent like aromas are in stores. They are becoming popular and also called as hair essence.

These essences deliver nutritious elements to hair roots and insist growth of thick and strong hair. Mothers breast-feeding their babies have difficulties delivering nutrients to hair, so essences are recommended.

Because it is said that chemicals used for hair perm and coloring enters through hair root and effects breast milk, you might worry about using hair grower. However hair grower made of natural ingredients don’t have bad influence.

As one of postpartum prevention, try to take care of scalp and hair more than usual. I can understand that it is difficult to take care of hair while taking care of baby, but please have your husband help you and do what you can do.

3. Straighten daily habits

It is said that you might suffer postpartum hair loss from 2 months after childbirth. In this period, baby cries in night and need to be breast-fed in night, and many mothers lack sleep. Between 22:00 to 2:00 at night is when parasympathetic nervous works the most.

Of course metabolism of skin and hair, when waste is eliminated from cells and nutrients enter cells, is done during this time as well. Hair loss will become worse if you can’t sleep well during this period. Try to take a nap or think about the time to feed your baby, and have regular hours as much as possible.

Your habit changes with childbirth and it is hard, but you should have enough sleep. Lack of sleep also causes rough skin, white hair, and other minor troubles, so you want to be careful. As night cry settles, fix your daily habits as well.

4. Release childcare stress

Babies don’t act as you wish. Physical stresses such as lack of sleep are problem, but mental stresses such as postpartum depression and childcare worries are also causes of hair loss. If you can release both of these stresses, hair loss will become much better.

When you feel stressed, hypothalamic area recognizes the signal and puts off secretion of female hormones. As a result, “estrogen” needed for long life of hair is decreased and hair develops poorly.

Worries about childcare can be relieved by talking to your husband, mother, other women who has same worries with their babies. Basically you can feel relieved by saying your problems out loud, so it is good to tell people around you.

It is also interesting to learn from books or internet about childcare. Pushing pressure points on face and scalp, or do some massaging and brushing and have some time while your baby is asleep is also important.

Ask for a little help and take care of your body sometime.

5. Do some exercise

Function of hair matrix cell which makes hair is greatly influenced by blood circulation. It means if you have poor circulation, you can’t have healthy hair or you will have weak hair which is lost easily. To make blood flow better, balanced meal is important but exercising is also necessary.

Not only taking care of hair, but do “pelvis stretch” to fix the position of pelvis damaged by childbirth, or do some other stretches to prevent minor physical problems.

10 to 20 minutes everyday is good enough so please release stress from your body. Especially distortion of pelvis will make blood flow bad if you leave it. Distortion stays at the position and will compress womb.

Also ovary making female hormones will lack nutrients and production of estrogen will be delayed. As blood flows better, you can release stress at the same time, so please try.

However, please don’t do hard exercise or go on an excessive diet to try to lose weight gained by pregnancy. It will lead to imbalance of hormones and malnutrition, and will cause more hair loss.
