Tried and failed…how to correct posture in 7 ways

I had complex about my bad posture, but actually not been thinking too serious about it. However people ask me “are you depressed?” “do you have any problem?” and I realized I am making people worry about me. Bad posture is giving negative impression to people more than I imagined.

That’s why I thought “I want to correct posture” and tried several popular ways…and failed all. Today, I will tell you 7 ways I tried and the reasons why I failed.

Shaping underwear 


If you look in internet, there are many kinds of shaping underwear. You will find from very cheap ones to expensive ones, and I’ve bought quite expensive product.

However, I was forced to keep unusual posture for a long time, felt pressure, and distressed to use it for a long time. What is more, once I take it off, my posture gets back to normal. I stopped using it from sometime and it was kept deep inside my closet…Maybe more expensive one had more effect, but I don’t think it can permanently press posture no matter how expensive it is.

 

Treatment at chiropractic clinic


It is said that “bad posture is caused by distortion of pelvis”, so I went to chiropractic clinic to straighten pelvis. It does not hurt, put I was not sure it was really effective or not.
And I was told to continue periodically if I want to fix my posture, and one treatment costs several thousand yens! It was too expensive for me. And in spite of its cost, I could only feel immediate effect and sense of accomplishment. Maybe it is really effective to some people, but it was not for me.

I tried twice, and decided to quit.

 

Massage


I had massage focused on my back. Therapist told me I have really stiff back, and it was very relieving and I was fulfilled at the time. However if I am asked about my bad posture…? I’m not sure. It returned to original posture immediately.

 

Balance ball


I thought stretching and muscle training using balance ball is effective. So I bought one.
It is true that stretching my body using balance ball feels good and I could feel my back is stretched.

However, I use it for only short time, and I can’t put anything on it, rolls over, big, and it really occupies space! Also I need to use hand pump to pump it up and takes a lot of energy, so I don’t feel like removing air I once blow it up. As a result, I left it, and air evacuates gradually and lost its presence and I realized it shrunk in the corner of the room.

Of course, I didn’t feel like blowing it up again. It is still shrunk and covered with dust.

 

Mattress


I was told that maybe my posture while sleeping is bad, so I changed my mattress to a low-resilient foam mattress. I can sleep very well! But I don’t think it has effect to bad posture, so my posture didn’t change at all.

 

Become a member of fitness club


To train muscle to make good posture, I became a member of fitness club in my neighbor. I attended earnestly at first, but I didn’t know which training and how much I should do. I eventually started easy aerobic exercises such as bicycling and treadmill, which have nothing to do with correcting posture.
It helped me to lose weight a bit, but I gradually got lazy to attend, and just paying fees after several months.
I should have got trained by professional trainer to train more efficiently.

 

Yoga lesson


I have attended yoga lesson once a week. Yoga can train our body with slow movements and stretches. It seems the most effective way, but I really need to pay close attention and if teacher doesn’t point it out, I would continue every movement with my back bent. It is not very effective, and yoga doesn’t have immediate effect.

Also, I suffered great muscle pain the next day.

 

What did you think about my failure story?

I understood that no matter how much I pay, it doesn’t get better if I rely on something or somebody.
The best way is to be sure to think about good posture on a routine basis and continue doing some stretches you can do at home. You don’t need to spend money, time, and it is easy way to correct posture. I hope you find this informative, and please acquire good posture.
